Maddie loves her new book - 'Elwood Bigfoot Wanted: Birdie Friends!' and she thinks that Elwood isn't scary at all for being such a big guy.
"Elwood Bigfoot is big, clumsy, LOUD...and lonely. It's hard for him to make friends - especially with the tiny, delicate birdies he loves so much. Each flash of their feathers, each chirp and cheerful song, helps him feel less alone. But whenever a birdie swoops by, and Elwood hollers at it to STAY, the scared creature flies away. He tries everything: sitting on a branch, having a housewarming party, even building an amusement park with snacks and pools. But nothing helps - until Elwood finally learns how to make his bird dreams come true."
I like that the background of many of the pages look like wood grain because this adds to the forest atmosphere of the story.
Elwood Bigfoot is a sweet mannered Sasquatch who tries so hard to be accepted by the birds...and in the end they do.
'Elwood Bigfoot Wanted: Birdie Friends!' was written by Jill Esbaum, and illustrated by Nate Wragg. It can be purchased at Amazon.ca, and Barnes & Noble . I recommend this book because it's a great story about the desire to be accepted and it shows that in the end we just have to be ourselves.
I received a copy of 'Elwood Bigfoot: Wanted: Birdie Friends!' for my review. All opinions and reviews are my own.
