I've just started my third round of the "21 Day Fix" with the eating plan and Shakeology, and I feel more like my old self.
(I wrote about my 30 pound weight gain in my post "I Am Not This Body".) Exercise has never mattered to me, but for the past 6 weeks I've made sure to get a workout in every morning before I do anything else.
When I first started Maddie joined me and followed along saying, "This is really hard Mommy. You can do it." Ava occasionally walked by and said, "You're doing that wrong." when I was modifying the planks...which I still do. The puppy now barks at me because she can't figure out what I'm doing. This is the reality of motherhood - we have to take time to take care of ourselves regardless of what's going on around us.
I laughed at myself through the pain of the very first few days of the workouts. I avoided the stairs to the basement for a few days because I knew my legs would give out...the laundry sat waiting those days. Since then my strength has increased, and I'm happy that I now use my former heavy hand weights as my light weights. The daily things that I do have become easier.
* walk up steep hills - while carrying several bags - without stopping
* pull Maddie in the loaded wagon on hot days with more ease
* dig weeds in the garden and feel fatigue but continue all afternoon
* carry around my 8 month old nephew with more ease
I'm not looking at the scale (we don't have one) or measurements - my goal is to wear my own regular clothes again that I have boxed up. I'll continue to workout often and eat well, and my daughters will look on as Mom gets stronger.
